12/22/2009 - Railfanning the CN Leithton and CN Matteson Subdivisions
A CN ES44DC and a CN SD75I work hard to get their eastbound, M390 train going up the hill, out of Joliet, as they enter New Lenox, IL.
A unit that has been spending a lot of time around Kirk Yard, CN GP9 7030, finds itself assigned to Joliet Yard, on the Smurfit Stone Local. Here, it's thundering up the hill in Joliet, not far from its destination.
After finishing up its work at Smurfit Stone, CN 7030 slowly makes its way back west through Joliet, bound for the yard.
A couple miles from Joliet Yard, 7030 knocks down the approach signal at 763. It would stop at the next signal, just outside of the yard, to allow Metra traffic to cross the diamond.
On my way home, I heard the northbound M391 finishing up its switching at the yard and requesting permission to depart. It had a CN C40-8M and a CN SD40-2W for power. Pretty cool! I headed to Plainfield to set up. Long train, eh??
well i really need some cure to my loneliness.. ;)
