Experience your own UK General Election campaign, with the classic board game Election.
http://www.historygamer.com/2010/07/01/election-game/

In Election, you represent one of six parties -- Conservatives, Labour, Liberals, Socialists, Nationalists and Independents. This is based on a UK General Election and the game was written in 1972.

However not a lot has changed since then, in that the party names may have altered a bit, but there are still parties like the UK Independence party, nationalists like the BNP and socialists.

If you are a games lover, take a look at this game because whilst its quite simple to learn, the tactics are fairly subtle - in other words good gameplay gets rewarded.

Please leave you comments below if you enjoyed the video. I am always happy to discuss the games that I review.

  • see, no one plays these types of games anymore. it is a real shame

  • @Comraderob1 I know. This one is a real classic. However I will try to run an online tournament for it one day and you can get to play (a cut down version) via my youtube videos

  • That is a nice production. Is it out of print or have they kept up and updated it as time has gone by?

  • @NaturalTwentyFilms Out of print and not so cheap to buy (ebay uk)

  • Vote for me! A rotten candidate for a rotten borough!

  • @Gerstein1 I guess because us outsiders can see the funny side of it. All those intelligent people desperately trying to control circumstances so that they continue to look good.... and then they fail. Ha Ha. The smear element of this game is actually quite effective. esp. if everyone gangs up on the leader.

  • @HistoryGamerDotCom Why is it political humor is always tounge-in-cheek?

On a side-note, despite the last election in the US was 2 years ago, it feels like everyones still debating. If I type UK General election 1972 board game, the last thing I'll get is the thing you showcased in this video. :P

PS. I tried playdiplomacy. It's a lot easier faking talking to someone.

  • @Gerstein1 you wont regret it. A tacticians paradise. I found its expensive to buy but now might be the right time on ebay (just after the UK election, when everyone is sick of politics).

  • I think I'll pick this game up if I can find it.
