You are digging too deep. When she said Age ain't nothing but a number, it was more of a reflection in terms of talent. It doesn't matter how old or young someone is, a talented person is talented regardless. You shouldn't overestimate or underestimate anyone because of their age. That's what she meant or at least how I saw it as a child and how I continue to see it. Everybody can hear a song and hear their own meaning though.
