The whole guitar is downtuned a bit then the top string is dropped , like doing drop D. Tune the top string to match the vid and then tune as you would in Drop D. From there hes picking out a D chord, then D with your 3rd finger lifted to open then its 1st finger 1st fret 2nd string from bottom+3rd finger 3rd fret bottom string, last is just 2nd finger 2nd fret bottom string. Just pick around you'll figure out the repeating patt. Hit the top string every time your switch shapes for the low note
