The auto-focus point selector on my 40D keeps taking over. In this example, the camera is in Aperture Priority mode, and then ISO mode is selected, and each time every other click of the main wheel moves the auto-focus selector. When in ISO mode the ISO does not ever change, even on the odd click. Is this fixable or some mysterious setting somewhere? Sorry for the poor focus, but you can see clearly enough to see the basic problem.

  • Update: Clear and delete only fixed it that one time and it's back to being broken. Time to send it back to Canon I guess.

  • Note: As suggested, selecting "Clear all custom functions" has fixed the problem and although I've lost all my custom settings the camera is at least back to its original "out of the box" state and is working normally. Must have found a bug in the software.

  • Go into camera settings and resets custom functions to default. That should do it. Also put the camera to M (manual) to test. If that does not work, and I do not see why it shouldn't, update the camera firmware from the canon site. Good Luck--A very experienced canon owner
