Damn U2B won't allow URLs. So if you want to learn some historical facts (in Portuguese), search for "O Taquaryense, fundado em 31 de julho de 1887, por Albertino Saraiva"
There's a Marinoni still in use, printing a weekly newspaper - O Taquaryense, the 10th oldest active paper in Brasil (2nd in Rio Grande do Sul state).
what a video, it made my hair stand up, as this is similar to the first machine I ever ran when I started in printing in 1962.
We called them flat beds and had 2 women feeders for each machine who would take it in turns to feed a ream at a time. The major problems would be the furniture between the type would rise and take ink, when you were not watching, a bit like litho machines scumming. A learning process! ALWAYS watch the delivery.
I think that whichever machine did a good job some other time in the past deserve our admiration and respect. We have to remember that at its time it was somehow a breakthrough in technology.

I don't know of any other active newspaper running on this type of technology (please let me know if I'm wrong - twitter @vmkern).
It started in 1887. The founder's son took over in 1947 and led the paper until his death in 2005, at 101.
