OK. This is spiralling into an interpersonal wordfight and might end up deviating from the issue.
My original comment was up there because someone had said that people equate their dogs with children. I have a problem with that. There is something wrong with a society (and this isn;t just an American problem) in which animal charities get more funds than charities for abused children.
Yeah. That reason is called "the law". It's illegal to marry your dog. People ARE concerned about human lives! That's why we hear about the war in Iraq every day, Madeleine McCann, the woman in the next town who got shot, etc etc etc. I don't know about you but I hear about Darfur frequently. =/
I never stopped that comment to start another (nor was it what you call it) so don't assume that I'm "putting words in your mouth". Since when does being trained by fox have anything to do with this?
Like I said, how do you know that people aren't outraged? Just because people don't bring up one issue when they're involved with another doesn't mean they are dismissing it.
I did kindly and calmly read your comments. I would ask that you do the same. If anything I said came across as rude then I am apologetic but I feel the need to put heavy emphasis on things as to convey the correct idea.
It *does* provoke a reaction. Did you wonder if it seems only prevalent for animals because it's a relatively new concept for some folks? What about all the people who helped in recent disasters? There were quite a few shows that spotlighted it.
There's a reason people cannot get married to their dogs...dogs aren't human beings. That, to me, implies a certain hierarchy. We should be more (or at least equally) concerned about human lives.
I never said anyone's views were unworthy of acknowledgement (would you stop putting words in my mouth??? Were you trained as a FOX journalist by any chance?) I am, however, disgusted, that people who claim the moral high ground on this issue have not demanded equal action on Darfur, the plight of orphans everywhere, child trafficking, et cetera...
I would ask that you, kindly and calmly read my comments and understand them before responding. I never said there should be no outrage for dog fighting (which, sadly, is commonplace in some parts of the world not too far from the US). In my first comment I did say that "Vick was dead wrong."
I am, however, outraged that equal, or worse, abuse of human life does not ellicit the equal outrage as this issue has.
So, it's automatically not worthy of giving ANY sort of care about? Because they're not human, they are not worthy of outrage at their torture and maiming? That's bull.
And all of a sudden because you don't see someone protesting about every. single. issue then all of a sudden their views are irrelevant and unworthy of acknowledgment?

There is something wrong with a world in which people who can't have kids would rather have dogs or cats than adopt.
My question still stands...where is the EQUAL outrage about other sports figures who have abused human beings?
