Wreckers continue to bring down the Lafayette Building in downtown Detroit on Dec. 21, 2009. The Lafayette opened in 1924 and was designed by noted theater architect C. Howard Crane, who also did the Fox Theatre in Detroit. The demolition follows a lengthy preservation battle to save the unique Italian Renaissance landmark.

  • Adamo rocks. Nice job, boys.

  • that high reach machine is just killer. does some real damage to the old building. nice work!

  • No No No. I'd rather have abandoned buildings then empty lots. I love Ruin Porn. lol. I dont want them to tear down the train station. Heck if you are optimistic enough, they'll be used again.

  • Soooooo glad they are tearing these abandoned buildings down in Detroit. Cass Tech, Train Station, Eddystone,Harbor Light are next!

  • Demolish the city council!! Before their is no history left!!
