One of the great Roy Acuff's first "hits", this song borrows lyrics from an old Southern hymn and marries them to the melody of "I'm Thinking Tonight of My Blue Eyes." It was first recorded in 1938 and has since been covered many times.
I recently discovered I too am related to the immortal Roy Acuff. He was my great great uncle, which came as a surprise considering I am an African-American male, but hey, I am just proud to be related to a song writing legend. And my husband, Brad agrees. Would love to get in contact with the rest of the family. How can I reach you guys?
My grandma had this song on vinyl, she played it for me every time I came to visit. I loved this song even though I was only 8 years old and I remember it to this day.
