Porsche 911 997 GT3 RS Track Day at JP Beltoise

March 2010 at the JP Beltoise track close to Paris.

This is not my car. I got 6 laps aboard a Porsche 911 GT3 RS with Stage-ACC in France. So what are my impressions? Well, it is an amazing car to drive, but the overall experience wasn't that great...

First of all, all you get is 6 laps in a 1.7km track. This lasts less than 8 minutes, and there is no way you can get accustomed to the car nor the track in such a short lapse of time.

But that is not the worst. The worst was really the overstressed "instructor"! If you look at the video, just try and count how many times he puts his hands on the wheel.

I don't know about other people, but there is no way I can get relaxed and drive normally with someone constantly trying to steer for me!!!

Add to this the fact that I hadn't driven for a year before that, and you get a not so great experience. But still, I drove a GT3 RS!!! :)

Ok, your driving wasn't so great, but I could probably say thats from not knowing the track. But he should never touch the wheel while you drive, that confuses the driver and increases your chance of wrecking.

@robertpwalls As I said, I know my driving wasn't great... I didn't know the track nor the car, but there was no way I could get any better like this... I'm not that bad of a driver usually... dommage, moi quand j'y suis allé, le moniteur m'a foutu la paix, j'ai pu mettre les watt à fond dans la ligne droite, il me disait rien, faut pas que je tombe sur lui la prochaine fois ;)

That instructor is going to get someone killed. You are driving fine, and he has absolutely no reason to touch the wheel, ever.
