March 2006 Roger was scuba diving at Black Rock in Maui, Hawaii when he came upon a beautiful 300 plus pound turtle. After ripping out a weed from the bottom of the ocean and waving it, the turtle came over and ate it right out of his hands. It was amazing to be next to such a large animal. What an experience!!!! • Hope you had fun. I dove with Lahianna Diver in town, but they do not have any classes or dives like the one I did on my own near Black Rock. Hope your refresher course went well. I actually teach the course and once you start diving a lot it will all come back to you like bike riding. Good luck and keep diving.

  • When I visited the Loggerhead Marine Life Center, a Sea Turtle rescue and rehab facility in Juno Beach, Florida, I was told that humans should not feed sea turtles. They said that it habituates them to humans, causing them to approach humans looking for food, which can lead to boating accidents. And (in Florida at least) many fishermen feel that sea turtles interfere with their business, and have been known to club them to death when they approach their boats looking for handouts.

  • Thanks for the information. As you see I did not touch the turtle and we were 35 feet under the water. That is terrible about what is happening in Florida. Turtles are beautiful and I have an environmental degree, so... Thanks for your comment. Also note this happened by mistake. I picked up a piece of seaweed on the sand and the turtle all of the sudden came over and started eating. I did not even know they ate sea grass.

  • this is just beautiful...

  • @Rogerhockey999 yeah im proud of you,,,,, it pisses me off when retards "play" with the turtles like there pets ...... touching one and getting caught will cost you $3,400

    thank you for being respectful

  • That would be cool...going next week, are the local diveshops doing the same thing, one hour crash course in the hotel pool and then one tank dive at black rock? I use to dive years ago but now that C-card is too old, so Im a newbie again.

  • wow you can totally hear the whales in the background!

  • please dont feed da turtles i agree with actutus

  • What did you do when you went scuba diving?

  • Could have been so much better with a little camera work..

  • Simply amazing! I've been snorkelling at Black Rock but never scuba diving. How much does the underwater video camera cost?
