One of the most important bands from UK in the 70s, Dr.Feelgood's first guitarist Wilko Johnson. This clip is from his first solo tour in Japan, with Norman Watt-Roy form the Blockheads, in the mid of 80s. Since Dr.Feelgood is called the leaders of Punk/New Wave, just like Iggy and the Stooges, their first album, "Down By The Jetty" was a sensational album. In my personal opinion, DBTJ album is more important album than the Clash's first album to me. Unfortunately, the kids in the US don't know about this band much. I think it's because of no distribution of the album in the US back then. I've only seen their second album from CBS/Columbia. Collect me if I'm wrong.
By the way Ronnie Yoshiko Fujiyama (from The 5678s)is in the audience in this clip.

  • ANYONE TELL WHY WILKO LEFT THE DR ?

  • I read in somewhere that he was having a pressure for song writing. I guess contracting to UA was too much for him.

  • I saw this genius live at the Flowerpot in Deby last December. One of THE great blues guitarists that ever lived. And unlike most of that genre, he is still alive!

  • I met Wilko once and the bastard ignored me.... but I still love him!

  • @SheledUmlal Well said young man!!.....you sure have some stones (not the bloody rolling ones either)

  • great music thank you for the post

  • @davidowenf Paul Weller was unashamedly influenced by The Who. Period. He said so and sent early Jam recordings to Pete Townshend for feedback. Needless to say, Townshend said what everyone who heard the first album (In the City) said; "Shit!! this sounds so much like the early Who, and the energy is fantastic". On stage, also, he was relentless with his Townshend leaps and "windmills" etc.

  • @PoireauMan68 I guess that's why he went to Katmandu for a year.

  • @davidowenf if you listen to anything by Paul Weller I think you'll find he is, er, 'influenced' by it.... mod stuff, Brinsley Schwartz, Eric Clapton. Whoever Paul wants to be, he'll go to the source and - well, let's just say he adapts it to the modern ear. Nicked it? I coudn't possibly comment. But he's never had an original thought in his life, put it that way.

  • eat your heart out paul weller you knicked this!!
