Assisted Recovery Alcholol and Drug Rehab Channel 5 Cover Story on Vivitrol

ARCA Midwest (Assisted Recovery Centers of America) is one of the first facilities in St. Louis to offer VIVITROL®, an injectable form of naltrexone, to treat alcohol dependence.

With VIVITROL, you don't have to take medicine for your alcohol dependence every day. That means more time for you to focus on your successes, your goals, and your recovery.

Proven Support for Recovery:
Safe, proven medications virtually eliminate withdrawal symptoms and cravings, greatly improving treatment success.
Alcohol and narcotics damage the brains pleasure system, producing the overwhelming cravings of addiction. This chemical imbalance can be corrected with medication.
FDA-approved drugs such as Suboxone® (buprenorphine) relieve withdrawal symptoms, while Vivitrol®, ReVia® (naltrexone) control cravings. Other promising medications include Zofran® (ondansetron) and Topamax® (topiramate).
Unlike older alternatives, these treatments are non-mood altering, non-addictive and have few side effects. Most patients take anti-craving medications for three to six months and continue counseling for up to one year.
Freed from physical discomforts, you can focus on relapse-prevention counseling and long-term recovery. Best of all, you can undertake this treatment on an outpatient basis.
Anti-craving medications can generally be taken along with treatments for mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder, which often occur in tandem with addiction disorders.
The Assisted Recovery program is based on the internationally recognized Pennsylvania Model of Recovery developed by Dr. Joseph Volpicelli at the University of Pennsylvania.
