  • Just some additional points:

    1. Since placenta praevia is defined as a retroplacental haemorrhage, in about 1/5 of cases of abruption there will be no visible PV haemorrhage, and in the clinical setting, the colour of the blood is irrelevant.

    2. In the setting of APH, one must also give RhoD immune globulin if mother is Rh-ve and steroids if <34wk.
