This video is part three of how to design your own subwoofer box. The example uses the Infinity 1252W sub and Subwoofer Design Toolbox software. The video explains how to design the dimensions of the cabinet and generate a cutting guide for the panels.

Firstly, thank you for the informational video!
Secondly, I have similar questions as the youtube member lilceazy87... How does the program adjust for the volume of the port-tube inserts? Does it at all? Or is it omitted simply because the difference of taking port volume into account versus not taking it into account is negligible?
Also, since the program assumes this to be a ported box when calculating volume, does it use a slot port or port-tubes/aeros in the calculation?
Thanks!

The program doesn't automatically adjust for the internal volume taken up by ports, bracing, crossovers and the back of the woofer itself. A rule of thumb is to increase the constructed box volume by 5 percent to compensate for these. If you think the port is using up more of the box than 5 percent, calculate the port volume and use that number instead. Sealed boxes are very insensive to small changes in box volume, and the correction is generally not worth worrying about.

Yes, you can put the port and driver whereever you want. The back of the port should be a minimum of 3" from the opposing wall to prevent a reduction of airflow.

YouTube blocks URLS, so Google "subwoofer design toolbox" and you should see the MFR Engineering site. Click on how to order at the bottom of the page.
