I absolutely agree and would add that it's not a case of who is (or was) best.

Personally, I prefer the playing of Oscar Peterson and, in particular, his slower, bluesy, melodic playing which is carried along so nicely using the rich, deep melodic harmony of Oscar's left hand which provides the perfect vehicle for supporting the right hand melody. As clever as he may be, Mr. Petruscu needs to slow down and give us the chance to hear what he can really do.

doubletime is doubletime, and to swing without an baseplayer, solo, is always hard on that tempo.

@Andreeeiiii You say he's faster than Oscar. Maybe that's true, but I think you missed my point. It's not a good thing to play so fast that the music loses something. It's not a race. Oscar could always swing at any tempo.
