we live in a modern world, with a different understandings. we have learned that people of every race and religion are equal and important for the mere fact that they exist in this world. If we are to live in peace and respect, we have to lose our ties with strong faiths that advocate beating or killing of anyone, and come to having a conversation. everyone has the right to live w/o being harmed by others (i.e. husbands, religious police, etc...), even if they don't agree with ur religion.

I find every religion I have ever looked into extremely disturbing. They all give certain people in society a verse here or there that gives them the right to oppress someone else.

a person may be muslim and hit is wife but that doesnt mean its allowed in islam.

dont accuse islam of what a person do.

Why can you not rejoice in life without having to refer to stone age script clearly written by sexually repressed men. There is nothing inspirational or enlightening in the passages you quote and it seems you are attempting to justify immoral behaviour. My opinion is that the average enlightened person could easily produce a book far superior to this.

I think again though your topics are interesting you seem to pick words like 'beating'.

You keep implying it as PHYSICAL beating....

To ignore the wife to mend her ways - is 'emotional' beating

To not share bed is again emotional and physical beating - deprivation of physical sex under Marriage.

lastly the beating in the ohysical sense is to have a fistful of grass in the hand and to SIMULATE beating

English words are AMBIGIOUS

NB Allah does not have 'opinion' as you have stated.

@paul1x1 ROFL similar to American Country culture. You lay your hands on a woman and YOU will receive an "ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT." This can take many forms. My ex-husband beat me for no reason and hurt my back badly and my father showed him his riffle and said he could "shoot the gonads off a nat from 500 yards away" and asked if there were any questions.

Oh how fair -- yell at her first, then emotionally abuse her and if those 2 don't work then let her have it. Here in Europe and over in America we just beat up our women without warning.

Any man that hits a woman is a coward and should be beat to a pulp by any TRUE man present. First and foremost I believe in liberty and freedom... and for me that trumps any religious teaching. For those Muslims who can selectively 'cherry pick' Islamic teachings (as I do with the Holy Bible) encouraging love and tolerance... I say 'Welcome Brother and Sister'. For those Muslims who believe in the full teachings of Islam and desire Sharia law and try to IMPOSE this on me I say... you will die.
