Dear Doctor Alvarez, could you please tell me how common is when gastrectomy patient suffers from esophageal spasm. My neighbor went through the precedure, and now she this spasm, she can not take a deep breath, she not yawn, she can not even laugh, because her diaphragm, right under her left breast, hurts like a stabbing pain, like a pinched nerve, or pulled muscle. her doctor said it was esophageal spasm and prescribed med to put under the tounge. she can not lay down in any position, it hurts
