In this video I am showing a mother and son how to do Paired Reading.

A leaflet about Paired Reading is available on www.eptoolbox.co.uk

The steps in the demo are these.

1. Reading together (simultaneously)
The reader points in order to control the speed.
If the reader gets stuck or makes a mistake, the helper reads the word correctly, pauses, and the reader also says the correct word, then they continue reading together.

2. The signal: (Reader tapping the book) = helper stops reading, reader reads independently.

3. If the reader gets stuck while reading independently, the helper waits five seconds, then says the word (reader copies) and then continues reading together , until reader taps again.

4. If the reader makes a mistake while reading independently, the helper says the correct word (reader copies) and then they continue reading together until the reader taps again.

(Our reader forgets to tap in one of the demos, and we move right on to show the step again.)

Thanks to James and Vicky Palmer for starring in this video.
