"Chocolate's Bittersweet Economy": Cocoa Industry Accused of Greed, Neglect for Labor Practices in Ivory Coast
On Valentine's Day, we look into two of the luxury industries that have come to expect huge profits on this hyper-consumerized occasion. We begin with chocolate. A scathing new report by veteran journalist and author Christian Parenti says hardly any progress has been made in the cocoa industry's pledges to address child labor. We host a debate between Parenti and William Guyton, president of the World Cocoa Foundation. [includes rush transcript]
Chocolate firms are slave drivers of today!
People, do not wait for their excuses any longer! Put pressure on them!

As if Guyton had "more substantial answers" to give. Laughable critique.

It's great that you had this. I greatly enjoyed watching it. It's just a shame that the questioning was weak and didn't push for answers earlier in the session allowing for more facts to come out. Parenti also dominates and repeats himself to much wasting valuable seconds of debate time to push Guyton to give more substantial answers.

Thank you for tackling this issue. The chocolate and children issues facing the Ivory Coast is like a slimey python no one wants to tangle with. Monjinou - The Naked Truth.
