Figured out the problem with the pdf manual's lack of painting info. The trial version of 7 pro had the 5 version pdf manual. Found the 7 pro manual by googling. The manual is 900 pdf pages and explains everything. Now I wish I had bought the program while it was on half price sale two days ago. It is sooo easy compared to my maya.
To bad this video is so blurry. Otherwise maybe we could see the settings and get a clue how to use 3d paint. If anyone has figured this out please post here.
Well, gee. I wonder why there is absolutely no mention of that in the help on 3d paint? Oh, yeah. There is no help and no tutorial. Good luck figuring it out. Go to the 3d Forum on the website. Nope not there either. No forum. Thanks kolobite. I will see if I can puzzle out later. At least I have a clue now.
If you are trying to paint a pre-made figure or model, you have to resave the texture first with a different name. This is to keep you from accidentally changing the default texture.

I love Carrara 7 Pro but Daz seems more interested in pushing the Daz Studio than giving support to Carrara.
Damn shame really since Carrara is a fantastic app.

Carrara is great but sadly let down by the lack of FREE help & tutorials from Daz3d.

The model you paint on needs to be uv mapped.
