Passions was meant to evoke different feelings than Hikari, Utada Hikaru said that the best comparison would be that Hikari is the sunrise, and Passions was the sunset (or Twilight ;P) of the same song. Hikari brought wonder and an uplifting feeling, while Passions brought a more lonely tune, that seems to transport you elsewhere.
