  • Yes it's a good song. I remember playing this album in about 1992 while making love to a girlfriend in Florida, a poor student, not able to afford to run the airconditioner, hot and sweaty. It was kind of magical with the music. You either know Peters music and love it or you just don't know of it.

For the absolute best live version of San Jacinto and Peter's greatest show ever, search for 'Peter Gabriel - Conspiracy of Hope - 1986'...

  • @xcomveteran thank you

  • I truly emphasise with the poor old native americans when I hear this song..... Images of the their once beautiful, untouched wilderness come streaming into my head, where nature and man lived in harmony free from the sins that we see in the modern world....... Somehow Peter articulated their plight and sadness into this powerful song.

  • This IS the best performer/songwriter in the history of Rock. He is so theatrical. With the costumes and masks (w / Genesis) and without 'em in his solo years. You feel and see the whole picture he sings. What other performer could even get close to Pete, I was thinking. and Bowie, Elton came to mind, but still think Gabriel had had a better and bigger body of creative work than those two. Kate Bush, too, but she's too overdramatic I can't really dig her (and boy, I've tried...)

  • fantastic version

  • One of the deepest and most spiritual songs! Loved this song I actually drove to San Jacinto on vacation and bumped this song in and took pictures along the way up into the hills.

PG - always full of vision and spirit!
