On Jan. 13, 2011, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (N.J.-06) toured the Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI), a joint institute of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
While there, Pallone met with UMDNJ President William F. Owen, Jr., M.D.; Dr. Iris Udasin, director, UMDNJ World Trade Center Medical Monitoring and Treatment Program; and several first responder patients who will benefit from the 9/11 James Zadroga Health and Compensation Act, which is now law. Under the program, which provides funding for the medical treatment of health conditions associated with those who were exposed to toxins at Ground Zero, UMDNJ is certified as a specialized treatment center for 9/11-related illnesses.
