2005 Logos Bookstores Award winner for Best Children's Book

With lighthearted illustrations and a sweet, reflective tone, best-selling author Karen Kingsbury encourages parents to savor not only their children's "firsts"--like first steps and first words--but the "lasts" as well. With the tenderness of a mother speaking directly to her child, Karen reminds us not to miss last days of kindergarten and last at bats in Little League amidst the whirlwind of life. Adapted from a poem in Rejoice, mothers and grandmothers everywhere will identify with the tenderhearted reflections in Let Me Hold You Longer. An ideal gift book for special occasions from baby showers to graduations. Now includes a bonus CD read by Karen!

  • This poem has touched me to tears. Remembering my son anthony who is now 17. Last i saw him he was 5. I miss and love him so very much. If i knew it was "my last" I wouldve held on tight and never let go. His father stole him from me, taking him to las vegas nevada. I contacted my son recently and his response" your not my mom, stop calling me your son and stop sending me messages" i died that day. I will always love him.....thank you for this poem

  • Karen Kinsbury is great!! This book is so true- they grow up so fast!!! Hold them tight- they'll be adults soon!!

  • I am not yet a mother but I attended the Ewomen conference last year and heard Karen read this. I cried just like all the other mothers out there. I can't wait until my husband and I are parents but this book really hit home. I will surly read this book to my little one when I have him/her. Thank you Karen. You're books have inspired me for years.

  • I bought this for my dad... his 50th bday is in 12 days.. it just fit.

  • My youngest of four children just finished his first year of college in another state. After pouring myself into the lives of my children, even home schooling them for the past 20 years I can only agree with great empathy with all of those moms who used to tell me, "Enjoy this time when you have your children in your home. It passes quickly and one day you'll wake up to an empty house and miss the noise and chaos." Of course I believed them then but I REALLY know it to be true now!! Great book!!

  • Such a wonderful reminder! My oldest will be a sophmore next year. Wasn't it just yesterday I had to stop that fight between he and his brother over that poor froggy? (One had the head the other had the legs. :)) Yes, lasts are so precious. Thanks for this beautiful tribute to lasts. Blessings to you and yours.

  • I have been thinking about all the lasts as my kids grow (5 &7), and halfway through watching this as I'm sniffling, my son said, "Mommy, I don't want any of those to happen to me. I want to stay with you forever." Then I was bawling! Thanks for the thoughts and to appreciate each moment with our children!

  • This is still one of my favorite books from you Karen!! Still brings tears every time I read it.

  • Karen - this touched me as soon as I read the version in your novel as her son got married. Next week my first child graduates from high school. I have tattered my pages of this book this year... The night he wore his football and wrestling jersey's for the last time... I just balled. I know he has a bright and exciting future. But thank you for writing this and reminding me to hold on to all the precious lasts with my other two teens.. the days they are fleeting...

  • This is a wonderful book, we raised 4 sons, and we had many lasts, we just wish they could have lasted longer. We cherish the precious memories of all of the first and lasts.
