STEAMIN' AROUND on Miniature Lines 2007
A pair of DVDs are now available covering the year's visits - 2 hours 40 mins total.

The pair of DVDs in one case £20 (plus £1.25 p/p)
See www.pmvideo.co.uk for ordering details.

An excerpt from the forthcoming DVD 'A History of the KLR' - At the Kirklees Light Railway Gala 16th September 2007 I walked the track from Clayton West to Shenton, stopping to video passing trains on the way.
This short sequence shows trains entering and leaving the quarter mile long tunnel west of Skelmanthorpe.
n.b. this tunnel was built to take (standard gauge) double track, since there were plans to extend the line to Barnsley. These did not materialise and the railway was mostly single track, with a colliery at Skelmanthorpe.
Besides the usual resident steam locos like Owl and Hawk, we see No. 24 and Mountaineer from Cleethorpes.

  • My first job as guard was to work empty stock from Huddersfield to Clayton West, then all stations back. That was in April 1981.

I retired from the railway as a guard recently after 27 years service.
