The Red Bull Rampage is a freeride mountain bike competition held in the Zion National Park near Kolob Reservoir Road in Virgin, Utah, USA. The competition was held from 2001-2004 and then canceled due to the increasing risk competitors were taking. The Rampage was re-introduced for the 2008 season. The event is similar to freestyle skiing and snowboarding, where competitors are judged on their choice of lines down the course, their technical ability, and the complexity of tricks. Featured in this video from the 2004 event is Josh Bender, an extreme freerider who jumps from heights that most people would probably not survive. This video was recorded October 29-30, 2004 on a Sony Digital8 camcorder.

  • Hey, I have a tape from when I had a camera, it is either of my family, or me and my friends. But I don't have a camera anymore. Could I send you my tape, and have you upload it somewhere and send me the link.

  • @TonyPerryOfficial I certainly can give it a try. What format is the tape?

  • @vwest7ife

    Digital8

  • @TonyPerryOfficial Sure, I can transfer Digital8... just send me a private message, and we can work out the details.

  • @rusevelt, i dont think its at all arguable, he was just flat out nuts.

  • This would be easier to watch with out this guy yelling "CLEAR THE PILE JOSHHH!!!" Over and over again .They hate that

  • I was wondering when this video would surface. Josh Bender, was arguably the most extreme mountain bike free-rider of his generation.

  • @uxwbill I took a spill off a bike onto blacktop when I was about 10, and have the scars on my hand to prove it. I still remember walking back to my house, crying, with blood running from my knuckles. Luckily that was my only significant injury as a child, probably because I wasn't into sports at all (although I did get a white belt in karate, if that counts for anything).

  • @vwest7ife Can you imagine that...those crashes were pretty wild!

(I did a pretty good wipeout on a Schwinn five-speed bike (with the infamous banana seat) when I was in the third grade--lost it on a patch of gravel at speed, flew over a bunch of trash cans and came a stop in someone's gravel walkway. Spent most of that year with a puffed up side of my face. And that probably explains why I turned out how I did. ;-) Every kid should have a bike like that.)

  • That's so EXTREME!
