On Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 - as part of the larger protest action against Gov. Walker's proposed budget repair bill that would strip state employees of their collective bargaining rights - 7-800 Madison East High School students walked out of class and marched several miles to the state capitol in support of their teachers and the pro-union movement.

  • I attend East, I was one of the students who marched, and believe me almost everyone there knew why they were there and had a reason to fight this bill. What Scott Walker is doing is not only hurting our teachers, , our friends, and our state; it is hurting my chance, and the chances of all of my fellow students, to have a good future for ourselves. Also, if you think unions are free rides, take your fucking head out of your ass and look at what things were like before the labor movement.

  • Good for the kids. Great experience. We've got to make sure our young people learn to fight for their freedoms. These will! God bless the angles!

  • With some of the pro-Walker/anti-union posting here, I have to wonder if these trolls aren't on the payroll of some astroturf organization, hired to go spewing their ignorant statements, with recommendations like "Gov. Walker shpould pull a "Reagan" and fire all of the teachers that walked out." (from RetSquid) - does he also recommend that Walker substitute national guard troops for teachers, or just let the kids sit in a teacherless classroom? Does that screen name indicate a retired squid?

  • @ksurv spoken like a person who truly hates the democratic process and the right to dissent. Perhaps you can find a nice autocratic nation to move to that will have rulers that agree with your anti democratic thinking.

  • What a convenient excuse for students to not go to school . . . with encouragement from those who are supposed to be teaching them. I especially appreciate the example the teachers are setting for our children. If you don't agree with something, cry about, complain, and don't show up for work. No wonder our students are falling further and further behind the rest of world.

  • Scott Walker rules!

  • CRUSH THE UNIONS !! Good Job Gov. Walker. No more free rides !

  • @LoserBushShrub

Yeah, liberals are usually proud of unions that break the laws. Gov. Walker shpould pull a "Reagan" and fire all of the teachers that walked out.

  • @RetSquid depends on who's writing it
