"We are promoting a campaign called 'White Clothes Day,'" Wang, who was jailed for years in China before being exiled, told AFP from Taiwan, where he was staying temporarily to continue his fight for democracy.

"That means we appeal to Chinese people to wear white clothes (the colour of mourning in China) on June 4 to remember June 4, and we hope that on that day, we can witness a China covered in white," he explained.

  • I find western newspapers biased against China when it comes to the "Tienanmen Massacre", they made it like no one in China knows about that.

I know this because I used to hear my parents and grandparents and neighbours talk about it, and my understanding is that most ordinary chinese people are against the students' action and people who died deserved it.

I was told to mind my own business and stay at home to study. LOL

  • well, you certainly been successfully manipulated by the chinese government.

  • BTW, China cannot go blindly into democratic system considering it's population and international conflicts with other countries, it would cause a very chaotic situation. The Chinese government is putting the country onto the right track using its own style.

  • LOL. okay.

  • well i dont know about twitter but some provinces in china cannot visit youtube but some can (mainland). I think its because of the problems with the internet providers.

I admit that the Chinese government block many sensitive datas on the internet, but they do that for the stability of the country. after all they want to ensure the safety of the majority of people.

  • Yeah, it must be the internet providers that block the chinese from accessing the internet. Hum mm.

  • Yeah, how dare we not treat the west as the moral equal or inferior of China?

  • cnmil: "people who died deserved it." More disturbing to me than the fact that human beings were killed for gathering in public and demonstrating to have their views heard is that you think they "deserved" to die for doing that.

  • The two party system in still quite tyrannical; look at the US Republican and Democratic party; they have control over the vital political, government and media institutions in the US.

  • While it's true that China can not adopt democracy quickly. Such a move would have deleterious effects; take the USSR for example when it broke apart; afterwards crime skyrocketed in Russia, you had various civil and ethnic conflicts, ect.

China should not become a decmocracy at a quick pace; democracization is something happens in long spand of time, but at the same time China should not continuing doing what it's currently doing.
