This particular Cougar had one thing in common with the Mustang: both could be ordered with the Boss 302 V8.

It's all screwed up. A child could have saved Mercury - The end began with the loss of the Comet nameplate in 1968. After that Mercury brass didn't give a damn about name plate loyalty buyers and there was after awhile, no product recognition.

Love it. Shame Ford is killing Mercury off. It's a sign of the times and does make sense financially.
