Interesting points of view.

Good synthesis of E-learning. Understandably one can't hope to revise all aspects of e-learning in 10 minutes, for example synchronous vs asynchronous learning, current software in the industry, etc. Naturally, next time it would be great if you can cover some issues on software.
Cheers.

Whilst I would not want to introduce a topic by doing a talking head video for 10 minutes, as one of several things done to aid revision on a topic that was originally covered by a mixture of lecture, reading and classroom exercises, it works fine. How do I know? Because that is what the feedback from more than one cohort of students has told me has told me. Tomparm is right in that this is not the way you would ideally frame a video if introducing the idea but for revision it works okay.

This is a good example of how not to frame educational content for e-learning. Students do not learn well from talking-head videos.

Well that's not strictly true... A talking head video is better than no video (if that is all one has time for) and a talking head video can be effective if you give the students instructions to watch it in conjunction with an array of printed and other materials.
