  • First view, first comment! Thank you so much for this. Ian is wonderful, possibly the most upstanding, straight, upright, honest, just, clear-minded, conscienscious and stable man in the British public eye [pun not intended]. And funny and friendly as well of course!

  • I admire Ian Hislop. The world needs more people like him, people who are not afraid to standup and slag off major figures while others wouldn't. Maxwell was one of those figures. It was unfortunate that he was a big fat scary bully who almost always got his own way until he fell off his boat. Ian Hislop shuld have got his money back after Maxwell's death, as it was discovered that most of what he said about Maxwell was in fact true.

  • @thatdrattedcat He once said because he grew up abroad he had an ideal view of England which sadly doesn't exist.

  • i love ian hislop hes class

  • lol @ patrick stewart's mustache... he's 'researching' for a role in werther's original ads :)

  • ian hislop is a true british legend

  • ian hislop is soooooooooooooo cooooooooooool !!! patrick stewart too, parkinson had got better over time too

  • You're completely right about him being upright and honest. Piers Moron spent masses of time and money on trying to discredit Ian and all he proved is that there is nothing to get on him. He is just a good guy.

  • Ian Hislop is very funny and serves a democratically important function, but... I find listening to him too long is depressing. It's not apparent in this particular interview, or in some of the HIGNFY, but in the rest of it he is intensely cynical (or to use the term he'd prefer, "skeptical"), and may VERY occasionally hold politicians to a standard too high to meet.

  • I've got to agree with ASobsessive. Ian should get the money back WITH INTEREST! It's true that he stands up to these so-called public figures like Horrific Hoorman, when others fail. They are straw men with feet of clay, (to mix my metaphors), and he is a genius. They aren't fit to tie his shoes. Good on you Ian.
