Sorry, I dislike getting behind justonemorename on this and I'm sure (s)he knows it, but how can foreign aid be summarily dismissed from discussion when aid to internal States is so overshadowed by aid to foreign States?
How can you justify aid to foreign States while our own brethren starve and grow weary?

Well I know we just bailed out a bunch of spoon fed overeducated ivy league wall street con-artists. Add on to that the billions we've spent on Iraq over the last 8 years. It's stunning. International aid is besides the point.

GOD WHO WOULD THINK THAT AFTER A TRAUMATIC EVENT ONE WOULD HAVE MENTAL PROBLEMS. Services I might add are usually provided by gov't to poor people. These services get cut because republicans target them. You know it's evil socialism.

There sure wasn't a "lack of communication" when FEMA clamped down and suspended local and State emergency workers from coordinating efforts DURING the disaster.
sorry, bad pun. I don't buy this line there's a failure of communication. There sure wasn't any failure to communicate when the objective was to cutoff rescue worker communication lines DURING the disaster.
Sounds more like "the fix is in" from what I hear.
