@MARSBOR33 Very simple answer... Southern Italy was inhabited by Greeks also...Ever heard of Magna Grecia?...Not to mention that before the Romans came in touch with Greeks and Etruscans they were culturally inferior...The only thing they knew was being shepherds and soldiers.Horace wrote=>''Graecia capta ferum victorem cepit,et artes intulit agresti Latio''=>"Greece, defeated, conquered its wild conqueror, and civilised the peasant Latins".

I have to say i didnt find anything latin in the script and the letters that are in "latin" such as "C" for the "Σ" is the greek chalhidee alphabet that was in use in Magna Greccia and make its appearance again in Byzantine. In Byzantine manuscripts you will find again the "C" taking place of "Σ" ...

@ts1710 They're probably waiting until they have enough to publish, or know enough about them, before they announce what they have found. Happens all the time in scientific fields. They also don't want anyone stealing the credit for their hard work, which is almost guranteed to happen if they just hand out the information willy-nilly before publishing it in scientific journals. That is one of the first places I would look for brand new information. :)

@ts1710 I completely agree. what's written on these should be viewable to the public but because many archaeological are privately funded, they're under the jurisdiction of whoever paid for them to be found.

i just stumbled on to this and it's very interesting. what i find quite disturbing though is that there is nothing to be found about what is actually written on the scrolls. not even verbatim copies of fragments. here we have a dude from nasa (?) saying they can read it like yesterday's newspaper, but they don't publish what's on them. there's people enough around the world who can read ancient greek and/or latin... i mean, even if it's just about so and so sold his house, widower remarries etc
