Any corrections to the lyrics are welcome.

Red squirrel in the mornin',
Red squirrel in the evenin',
Red squirrel in the mornin',
I'm comin' to take you home

The sun rises over my head,
In the mornin' winter
Hold me, dear, into the night
Sun, it will rise, soon enough

The sun risin', danglin' there
Golden and fair, in the sky

  • the guitar and the vocals at 2:43 till the end are so amazing!

  • @Gunnerkelly Helplessness Blues is equally as good.... (if not better in my mind)...... It has better cleaner production..... the guitars are so much more powerful in helplessness blues.... and the lyrics and vocals are just as powerful...... I thought that the debut album Fleet Foxes with Sun Giant was the best folk rock albums I've heard..... then Helplessness Blues came out... It is the closest thing to flawless I've heard in modern music.

Granted this is all my opinion

  • @Gunnerkelly I need you to read this very carefully:

I used to think the same as you: that the new album wasn't "as good" as the first one. I have a recomendation: download it top quality (320), get a gooood pair of headphones and go to the nearest park (or woods) and give it a full listen.

I don't know what it is, but this album has magic in it, belive me.

Peckhold needed 3 years to make this. It is a complex, engaging pice of music. But it is GOLD.

  • @IvonoftheGWF It's true. Helplessness Blues just doesn't come anywhere near this stuff. I like it, but it's a rough attempt. I wish I knew what went wrong.

  • I love them....I don't know, they have that peaceful, far away sound that you just wanna drive down a long road to. It sort of makes you feel infinite. Anyway, thanks for this.

  • I think they're saying westward in the morning, westward in the evening... It makes a little more sense...

  • fleet foxes are a beautiful blend of echoes, love, and clever catchy lyrics. i love starting my day off with them.

  • @artidinarti Thankyou, that guy is a moron.

  • I find that folk and country at times parallels African American music. Just an observation.

  • wouldnt say this deserves to be the highest rated album of 08, but it's still better than most of the stuff that came out that year.
