In the early 50s, designers , Dior in particular, let women's silhouettes blossom. A more feminine silhouette meant wide ballerina skirts. The style was romantic. Wearing a Dior dress implied a return to the corset.
Chanel's style was different .She designed relaxed suits and comfortable dressing.
Ready-to-wear clothes made their way . Everyone could then buy well-designed clothes at a reduced price.
Glamorous women gave much importance to fashion accessories ; hats , berets, brooch corsage, gloves and bags , flat and stiletto shoes, a spiked umbrella and make up .
I am loving the comments on this! lol! :)

I wish we still dressed like this. If you go out now and even attempt to look respectable you are looked down upon. Designers....bring back true fashion when a woman looked like a lady and not a tramp.

@aquagirl574 Where I live it is extremly rare to see a woman in a dress or skirt; all trousers now, and ugly.

really, women's clothes haven't changed that much, what changed is our waist line-- admit it, folks
