A look at Osan Air Base's "PT Boot Camp," an intensive program put together for airmen who've flunked their Air Force fitness test twice and have been placed in the Fitness Improvement Program.
@xonoma its the military and most af personal do convoy duty or security forces duty, in fact, i'll be doing it for a year in south korea starting april.
Refrigerator must be defrosted once a week. Thus it is necessary to wash with a weak solution of baking soda and wipe dry and air out for an hour. No need to put in the fridge and eat foods that have a pungent smell.
We divided the Airmen into groups based on ability. We started with no plates in the vests and moved up to plates. Between the weighted vests and the body bars, it was tough! When they finally ran the PT test at the end, they flew! Everyone but 1 passed the test at the end. And he wasn't motivated till the middle (was on his way out of the AF - this saved his career). We did a different workout every day. It was awesome!!
This is actually a very good workout. If the flak vests have the plates in them that is an extra 40 lbs you don't have to worry about during the test. That is such a mental bonus. 90% mental 10% physical.
@xonoma It's all about appearance. The ideal Airman (men) have a 32 in. waist 150 lbs and able to complete 67 Pushups in 1 min and 65 situps in 1 min with a 9 min 1.5 mile run. What the AF does not take into account is genetics. You could have a very in shape person who is 6.6 ft. 225 lbs with a 38 in waist who could lift a bldg out of harms way but that isn't good enough for the AF. Whoever makes up these tests needs to hang themselves, The AF is smart but they can't figure out a PT test
@Spytheweb haha, I dunno anything about passes. That must have been some gayness that was going on after I left Humphreys. I'm an MP and that's the first I've ever heard of asking for a pass while LEAVING the post lol. Osan was definitely nicest of all of the posts i had been on in Korea. Humphreys was shaping up to be pretty nice when I was on my way out too.
this is a great program, at my base(luke afb az) ive seen ppl run with chewing tobacco in their mouth , some ppl dont care, but its getting serious now, pass pt, or bye air force
