Pro 164 Scanner City and Air Bands

Pro 164 scanner with two trunked banks and one regular bank. Trunked banks are City of Huntsville Public Safety radio system. I have Police on bank 1 and fire on bank 2. Banks 4 5 and 6 are air traffic control and local Huntsville Jetplex frequencies. Unlike my other clips, I'm not jabbering while the scanner is running.

How do you get the bank ID like ur west dispatch to show up while its on a channel? The way urs is....

If you named your banks, and it isn't showing up during traffic, you need to upgrade to the latest firmware. The older f/w did not allow bank tag display during traffic. Go to the Radio Shack page for the 164. Click the link to "Read the owners manual". That opens a list of firmwares. Read the procedure PDF before you get the f/w, there are different version for the different boot versions.

alright well i got far enough to put in some frequencies that are said to be trunked repeaters. i press function-trunk and i put in a code that the channel gave me under the Motorola mode(it says alot but i picked one) some times it says control 100 but no frequency or code. i did this for 0-4 on bank 8. there are 28 TGID# where u put those codes in but do you need to fill all of those in order to enter the trunking system. if not how would you add the trunking setup to the bank?

Go to marksscannersDOTcom and find the manual for Pro 97. The Pro 164 and Pro 97 program pretty much the same way. This manual is a thousand times better than the RS manual. He explains step by step how to do what you want to do.

When your setting up a trunking system, how do you add it when your done? Maybe im doing somthing wrong?

Years ago I did my Pro 95 using the manual at marksscannersdotcom. Now I use software and a cable, worth every penny. Program a trunked [Motorola] system, put the control channels only in the bank starting at channel 00. Set mode to MO for each control channel. Run the channel in "open" mode, or, program talkgroup IDs and run it "closed" to see the tags. I highly recommend the Arc 300 software and others. Radioreferencedotcom has great forums for scanners also. Good luck.

Banks 4 5 and 6 are not trunked, and all have bank IDs. Make sure you have the latest

firmware if you want to see these IDs when receiving traffic.

Hey can you name the Bank IDs without setting up trunking? my area doesnt use trunking but i have the banks organized into groups and i want to name them.
