About 9 months ago I read on the front page

of the New York times that the arch diocese

of wilmington delaware ( where I live) filed for

bankruptcy. They had already dished out over

a million dollars towards molestation payoffs,

and could not afford the 100+ counts of sexual

molestation charges pending. Yet all the churches

and schools are still running and collecting money.

They just relocate their child rapist priests to different

parishes and the people do not know. =l

The problem is the stupid dictatorial / authoritarian mentality of the Church, which cultivates a power fetish among sociopaths within the ranks. If you love your fellow human being, you treat them with latitude, which is a sign of respect. If you try to make them fear you, you are not a loving person. Of course, in the past the Church commanded huge respect in society. It's a good thing that it no longer does, because now the philosophy of "do as I say not as I do" just doesn't fly anymore.

i suspect the money they collect from the ignorant parishoners are to pay for all their abuse cases. where else are they going to get that money?!?!?! they'll just "get" the ppl to pay for it. true capitalism rules here in all businesses. & religion is just a witchcraft business out after the souls of the "flock".
