From http://www.digifreq.com/digifreq/ Scott Garrigus unboxes his Cakewalk SONAR V-Studio 700 music system. See how the V-Studio 700 looks when it first comes out of the box. Check out all the accessories that are included. And see a quick tour of the VS-700R audio interface and VS-700C control surface.

  • Does this only work with cakewalk, or can it be used for other software like Pro tools, Logic, Cubase etc. =P

  • @Guitarpat100 Yes, it can be used with other software as long as the software supports the Mackie Control protocol for control surfaces. Unfortunately, Pro Tools doesn't support that protocol so it won't work with Pro Tools. Not sure about the others. I talk more about it in my free ebook... you can find more info at garrigus dot com?VStudio700

  • o ok thanks for the info. Will this system work with the new x1 from sonar.i've been using sonar since after high school class of 1991.It suites my needs.been wanting a controller tho.

  • @gadisrael Yep, the system also works with X1. Some of the features need to be updated, but Cakewalk is currently working on the update, which should be out in March.

  • why would they make the interface usb instead of firewire?

  • @gadisrael As far as I know, FireWire is on its way out. USB3 will probably become the new standard.

  • @megaman1221 Yes, the console comes with its own drivers, which allow it work with tight integration with the SONAR software.

  • @ScottGarrigus PT2 since you already have the console does the console come with it's drivers? if it does then that's what makes me think it should work I don't see why not but oh well Thank You so much again for replying.

  • @ScottGarrigus Yea I just wanted the console I had already contacted Cakewalk and the Tech guy told me I cannot used them at the sametime but I don't see why not I believe it should work but I don't know because I don't have the console I just don't want to keep buying more mics which is kind of senseless I figured the console would work the tech guy at cakewalk told me that it will work but I have to keep switching from the console to the mic and only 1 can be selected good book your welcome

  • @megaman1221 Oh, okay. If you're just getting the console, then they should work together. Although, USB mics are known for causing trouble when used with other USB devices. The problem is that there's only so much data bandwidth provided by USB. I think the only way to know for sure will be to try it, unfortunately. You could also try talking to Cakewalk, but I don't know if they'll know for sure either. Thanks for reading my book! I appreciate it.
