Are they telling us the truth about how bad the economy is?

I took a look around my little neck of the woods and I don't think so. So it leads me to the question as to why all the fear mongering on television, radio and internet.

@a1graymatter I'm glad to hear it. We are still working hard where I am and both my kids are doing OT at their place. So my reality is much different that what I hear on the TV and here on YT from the Gold sellers. It's not easy but when was it ever easy?

I think they knew the economy would get bad, its just they don't want to create a panic, because we the people outnumber them...in times to come things will get so bad, it won't be worries for jobs but something worse

@prettylyricsmarie Don't panic and start thinking the world is coming to an end. Look around you, your own eyes and ears will tell you the truth of your own situation. How many jobs are in the paper? Do you see a lot of for sale signs in your neighborhood? My son is back at work and he has minatory overtime, 8 hrs a week! The company I'm working for now is knee deep in work for medical equipment and elect buses. That's my reality, not the TV or radio..

wasnt cash for clunkers GREAT? people gave up a car with no payment on it for something they have to make payments on (the banks get lots of interest and can lend out more money, too) you have to register and pay taxes and liscence fees. Why not just give the banks ANOTHER bailout instead? or right this way the people feel like they got something. A POS car that wont run and prolly guzzles GAS. Another thing that costs an arm and a leg. Health Care, too. Just give MORE money to insurance cos!

No one I know took the gov up on the cash for clunker deal. We all could see that was no deal for the working poor. And the only people I saw on the road driving a brand new car, obviously could have afforded the down payment without the gov. I've discovered that the insurance co are already on board with a Public Option plan now. Working in conjunction with charities. Full coverage based on income, with low payments and co pays.

@Boomer1949 LOL Thanks for your optimism...but its certaintly not my view...8 hours a week isn't much of anything...for pay...but I guess you have to keep going in life, and hope for the best...its attitudes like yours that make me see why things are so bad, way too optimistic...world won't end, but humans one day will go extinct...its just a matter of time, till them we keep going...

the economy is bad, it just is made to look like its not too bad...its like a person who covers their face with makeup, but under the makeup its severe acne under the surface you can see what's there...you can only hide things and keep people in the dark for so long...eventually the truth about what's going on will be shown...

Cars are cheap because the economy is shit, did you know what in Obama's new health care plan has a waiver if you are a damn muslim, they dont have to pay taxes for health care.... stupid America voted for this fool?

I'm still seeing jobs coming back on line since early lay offs. I have a job and have had for the last 7 months. The cash for clunkers did a bang up business around here..I've never seen so many brand new cars in our little area before. Someone has some money somewhere. No bank has closed in this area..so all in all, yes I do feel the same when talking about my area..tell me about your's,
