Lloyd Ratner, MD, Director, Renal and Pancreatic Transplant Program, tells prospective patients, kidney donors, and families what they need to know about kidney donation and transplantation. In this direct and engaging presentation, Dr. Ratner provides a wealth of information about the advantages of living donor kidney donation; laparoscopic and open surgical techniques; what donors and recipients should expect during and after surgery; post-operative pain and followup; and post-donation pregnancy.

  • Someone contacted me that he wants to donate a kidney after seeing a posting I had for someone in need of a kidney. In that posting I had provided the link to Dr. Ratner's video on kidney donation.. I had asked him how his wife felt about his donating a kidney. He said in the past she said no. However, he got his wife to watch this video that I had in my posting, and as a result his wife is allowing her husband to donate a kidney! Dr. Ratner's video here will result in more lives being saved!

  • Dr. Ratner is an amazing surgeon. One of the best!

  • I am in touch with many people who have donated a kidney - all of us who donated a kidney are doing great, thank G-d, no one has regrets, and some of us wish we can do it again!

  • I know many people who are in need of a kidney - some very desperately. If you would like to be matched up with someone in need of a kidney, please feel free to contact me at KidneyMitzvah at aol.com (You tube does not allow to use the "at" sign with an e-mail address, so that's why I wrote the word out). I usually check my e-mails often, and not You Tube for messages, that's why better off e-mailing me. Thanks!

  • Thanks Dr. Ratner for this great video!

I donated a kidney to a stranger in September 2005. Since my kidney donation, I have been wanting to do more - so I now have a project to help others who need a kidney. I don't get paid for this and don't charge a fee. My brother donated a kidney as well, to someone on my list of people who need a kidney.

If anyone out there would like more information on kidney donation, please feel free to contact me.
