For the idiots that think that the Traditional Latin Mass (Tridentine) is the only real/original/oldest Mass in the Roman Catholic Church...I have two words for you: SARUM RITE!
-
Actually the Anglican Use is an offshoot or subset of the Roman Rite.

Ya Papist bastards have never been anything but traitorous, from Gunpowder plot to Casement. Taking orders from Rome and bred to grass.

@lauwai4life I'm sorry, I do not understand if this is sober or satirical.

no cramner based histranslation on the BCP and the Book of Divine worship is essentially that with some modifications

Quick! Somebody call the cops. The RCs have stolen one of the great treasures of the Anglican Church and the English language, the Book of Common Prayer. Do they have NO shame?

@king052206 no such thing as "being biblical" in the way you mean. 2000 years separate us from them & we have neither the historical, cultural or linguistic context, let alone the actual means which to enter into their world. there's nothing more or less biblical about high mass compared to an evangelical service or an orthodox divine liturgy or a presbyterian church service. they are all derived human traditions. it's what's in the heart that counts in the end. worship just helps us get there.

What I have noticed is that in the Anglican Use and Sarum Rites that the priest wears a cope for the Mass of the Catechumens and puts on the chasuble for the Mass of the Faithful. Or is this just for the Requiem Mass?

@cantori2 The SARUM RITE; The Ambrosian, The Mezoarabic and so many more rites exist within the Roman Rite. Those who have tried to paint the church monolithic are proven flawed in their attempt; yet where officiated properly every mass is a miracle!
Welcome!

How sad that Cranmer like most (though not all) of the English clergy of his time chose schism over obedience. But despite Cranmer's apostasy, his work in the prayer book is a legitimate part of the Catholic heritage.

Lauwai4, Cranmer was a brilliant liturgist. As a life-long Catholic I freely acknowledge it. Cranmer was of course a Catholic priest, and he based his work in the Prayer Book on the centuries-old Gregorian Mass and numerous other established prayers. For example, Evensong is an adaptation, a repackaging, of the pre-existing liturgy of the hours, not a novel devotion.
