Those were the days... Back when Ireland were decent. They've never beaten a top tier team at a world cup and that won't change this year.

@gretgael1 I dont know how O'Connell does it. Matfield's slightly taller, can get straighter in the air, but whenever O'Connell comes up against him he manages to get the ball off of him, he really uses his hand's well since he can't get as high as other locks - which is why i rate him the best lock in the world

As a south african perhaps I can defend them. We have this reputation for being arrogant. If you put yourself in that mindset, you are the best, and if you loose, its no one 'fault' but your own. I think this is exactly the right attitude for an athlete to have. I dont know for sure, but I would imagine the players were fairly gracious about the defeat itself.
As fans however south africans will NEVER accept that the ref didn't rob us, or the all blacks were offside, aussies criminals etc
