  • Great work! I love building my own gear! My homemade backpacking quilt is my favorite peace of gear. I alway sleep better than with my super nice Feathered Friends sleeping bag. The personal satisfaction of building your own gear gives you an understanding and confidence that is way more valuable than any money saved. Of course the money saved is a nice benefit as well.

  • Regardless of what shadowofmy thinks, sewing your own gear is fairly easy. Though a bit time consuming, it's totally worth it to watch your ultralight gear take shape. In the long run, not counting time, it's not nearly as expensive as buying gear and the quality can't be beat. Thanks for the video!!!

  • @shadowofmy

Sounding pretty lazy there my friend.

  • DON'T fool yourself! . I would NOT recommend to sew your own staff from my personal experience! It's NOT as easy as Ray promotes! Nor it's inexpensive ( in fact, I think it's WAY OVERPRICED! If you calculate everything). BUT mostly - it's so TIME CONSUMING - I could rather rent a mules (or even a plane) for myself if I just stay earning money on my job. Instead, buy ultralight staff in the store or web. Nowadays it's plenty of ultralight staff! Jardine became a BRAND not a fellow backpacker!

  • looks like a great job done. hope you liked it. yours Earl

  • Please tell us what the "shell material" and "insulation" are by name. I'm quite interested.

  • Great video! I struggled sewing the material until I sewed it upside down and then the insulation didn't catch in the machine foot. Seriously made all the difference in the world! Hope this helps for your next quilt!

  • looks like good fun, Well done

  • I like your $5000+ sewing machine. How much did the materials cost you? How many hours did it take you to make?

  • LOL I had similar experiences making my quilt.
