2010 May 2nd - Shortly after 03:30 hrs NCCC (Northumberland County Communications Center) dispatched MCFD to 350West 4th Street in the Borough of Mt. Carmel for a House Upon arrival of the first in units E1, L2 the Fire Department found a fully involved row home with heavy fire on Side 1 Divisions 1, 2, and 3. This fire spread quickly as command (Chief 1) escalated the alarm status to a total of 4 Alarms with S/C and move up assignments in order to ensure coverage in the event of another incident in the region.
Shortly after the arrival of the first in units the second floor collapsed and a small explosion can be witnessed on the video causing the chimney of 252 (westward end home) to collapse into the street, causing this home started to list westward towards Beach Street (right).
Per Chief 2 Williams Blog
As crews were setting up a possible backdraft occurred which resulted in an explosion type effect that blew flames, heat, and debris several feet from the buildings. MCFD has a turnout gear ROG that may have prevented firefighter injuries.
Two dogs were saved and one cat is missing.
Crews were in service for about 4 hours.

This shift happened as a fire ball that liquefied the Aluminum siding as it tossed it onto and igniting a vehicle in front of the residence (350 center row home). This resulted in the FD taking up an initially defensive position.
On the bright side of this incident the Fd (Chief 2, & 3) rescued 2 - K9s from the burning home uninjured.
In all over 100 firefighters from 3 counties (Northumberland, Schuylkill, and Columbia Counties) fought this blaze.
