Why the planet:
As a global transport company and Europes largest Express operator, TNT employs more than 160,000 people. We deliver express consignments and mail items to businesses and consumers in 200 countries, supported by a vast transport network.

Connecting people to information is our business. In doing our job, we become part of our customers supply chains. So we understand just how interconnected our world is and how much that matters.

We think it matters a lot, especially in view of worldwide trends like climate change and resource scarcity. As a transport business, we influence these trends and so do the people who work on our behalf, like our subcontractors. The fact is that when it comes to the planet, we have a negative influence.

Our vehicles, aircraft and buildings make us a key contributor to harmful CO2 emissions. Those three areas of our operations, alone, account for 99% of our emissions. We contribute to the problem, so we must be part of the solution. We also have a vested interest in creating a sustainable future. Thats why we see it as responsible risk taking to go beyond compliance and positively influence the direction of future environmental developments.

Our Corporate Responsibility (CR) strategy is our commitment to areas where we have the biggest impact: the health, safety and development of our employees, our operational carbon footprint and use of natural resources, our work with subcontractors and suppliers, and our philanthropic efforts.

Protecting the planet is a key part of that strategy. Our commitment is called Planet Me. Its a holistic environmental programme focused on dramatically improving the carbon efficiency of our global operations and engaging our employees and our extended network in joining us in our efforts.

Our zero ambition:
Our ambition is to become the worlds first zero-emission transport company. Zero signifies where we want to be in the future: operating zero-emission buildings and depots, managing a fleet of zero-emission vehicles, leasing only zero-emission company cars ultimately, zero carbon output in everything we do.

Planet Me is comprised of three focus areas:
° Count Carbon - Measuring and monitoring our CO2 performance
° Code Orange - Improving the CO2 efficiency of our core operational activities
° Choose Orange - Engaging our employees to adopt sustainable behaviour at work and home
