Jim Reeves the well known American singer came out to South Africa in the 60's to film a movie called Kimberley Jim. He had a crack at singing a few South African songs as well in Afrikaans. Its fair to say that he isnt the best, but well done for having a crack at them none the less....check out my blog for more details

This is not correct Afrkaans. Non of those words above are Afrikaans maybe phonetically but it's not standard Afrikaans.

Since I was born in England, I still managed to learn to speak afrikaans and perform in it.

My mother in law loves this song (she is Maltese!) even though she doesn't understand a word he sings.

She asked my why Afrikaans has long a sounds, like tripple a (aaa). I didn't understand what she was talking about, until I had a look. very funny - I could barely read it myself! .
