Leonard Cohen Interview, March 1985 (Part 2)

An interview with Leonard Cohen from a bootleg concert CD I have. The concert is listed as happening March 22, 1985 in Warsaw, Poland. I assume the interview happened on or around that date as well.

This was an interested period for Leonard Cohen. Although he had plenty of fans, he had no label support. He talks about that in his interview. He also has interesting things to say about Bob Dylan, Nick Cave, Phil Spector and more.

My favorite quote (from Part 3):

Interviewer: "Is Phil Spector as crazy as everybody says he is?"

Cohen: "Yes, he's alot crazier than people say he is."

I'm baffled by the fact that Mr.Cohen is not only unappreciated by record companies but also underestimated of his influence on us the younger generation..

He has been the greatest of my influences; aspiring me to become a singer/song writer..

I'm mostly inspired by his words

But I always thought of him as a poet rather than a musician even though he does not admit it to the interviewer...

Cohen is brilliant and I 'found' him. Had I known about him earlier, I would have shared it w/ friends in my early 20s (when I discovered him). He is brilliant and transcendent. The record companies are so literal and blind. Anyone who hears Cohen will be transformed and spread the news about his talent.
