Here is a treat for Nat King Cole fans, the original version of J. Fred Coots' and Sam Lewis' 1934 song "For All We Know" recorded in 1949. While this version lacks the lush strings on the 1958 recording on the The Very Thought Of You LP, it's wonderful in its own right. It can be found on the 4 CD box set, Cool Cole, The King Cole Trio Story, on the Proper label.

  • The way Donny Hathaway sings and Nat Cole sings it....evokes so many different emotions......

  • I'm a big fan of "The Very Thought of You" album and the treatment of this song on it, but this version is so much cleaner, simpler. It's just superior. Nat never made a bad version of a song--just some versions are better than others :)
